Celebrity Aprons

The new year has inspired me with some wacky creativeness, like celebrity aprons! I think this began way back in girl scouts, mid-1960s or so, when we used to have these Fashion Shows where we did literal translation of styles, i.e. an A-Line skirt would have construction paper letter A's pinned all over it. I can't even remember any others now.

So, I finished a hilarious book by Amy Sedaris, "I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence" and was hit by this idea that I should make an Amy inspired apron!

Details include:

- Glued on googly eyes, Amy loves this craft item
- "Tips" embroidered on the pocket
- Kitschy apron design with ruffles and pom poms

And as if this weren't enough, next idea in my head is:

A Martha Stewart apron! Stay tuned...

You have great taste in fabrics! I especially love Lara Cameron's fabrics. She is one designer to watch! I have the Riverside friends in gold that I haven't decided what to with yet.

The googley eyes are a nice touch!

Thanks Jodi! I was just looking at Lara's fabrics in my stash last night. It's almost as if I am afraid to cut them because then they'll be gone! But I need to get over that fear. :)

Hi - just dropped by to tell you how completely gorgeous I think your apron is. I always find new and fabulous bloggers (to me) via the tie one on. I'll be back!
